Encierra is obtainedfrom grapes that come from Viña San Diego de Puquillay. A huge extension of land with a planted area of 180 hás (445 acres). The varieties are Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere, Syrah, Petit verdot and Mourvedre.
These platations undergo a rigorous selection processin order to choose the best grapes which are to be used in the elaboration of ENCIERRA Vineyard Reserve, ENCIERRA Carmenere and POREL.
The harvesting process is done manually and special attention is placed on the ripness of each variety.
Mediterranean climate, with well differentiated four seasons during the year.
During the summer months there is a great temperature oscillation between day and night, ranging from 29°C to 12°C, in average.
The rainy season takes place during winter (May – August); total rain: 600 mm per year.
The proximity to the coast and the presence of see breeze allows the fruit to have a slow ripening process, a condition that is important and appreciated to obtain high quality grapes.

Clay soils of lacustrine origin deposited on ancient volcanic materials, clay-sandy loam, slate-like metamorphic rock in the piedmont.
All of them quite developed and, responsible for the attainment of such particular grapes,sot concentrated and with an elegant fruitiness.
